What is empathetic design?
This is the question I care about and explore through making at the scale of everyday objects and within living spaces in the forms of furniture, devices, wearables, and something in between for emotionally intelligent interactions.

“Reina is a design researcher and currently a doctoral candidate at Harvard University. She is interested in ubiquitous computing, on-device machine learning, and affective interaction design. Her current research investigates ways to embed intelligent buffers in people’s immediate surroundings to sense and regulate affective to cognitive responses.
She received a BArch with Honours from the Architectural Association and an MS from MIT where she investigated computational methods for designing embodied interaction using embedded sensing systems for behavioral pattern recognition and adaptive sensory response.
As a lecturer and graduate thesis advisor, she has taught undergraduate to graduate-level courses on product design, physical computing and interactive systems at RISD and Northeastern University. She has also served as a visiting studio critic at the AA School of Architecture.
Professionally, she has worked as a computational designer, design technologist and project manager collaborating with companies and international clients in New York, Boston, London, Hong Kong, and Seoul.”
